Acting head coach for four games of the 2023 national title season
Moore first took the job in pieces. He served as acting head coach for four games during the 2023 championship season while Harbaugh was suspended, going 4-0 — including a win over Penn State and the victory at Ohio State. He was promoted to the full-time job when Harbaugh left.
His two full seasons produced a 16-8 overall record before the program moved on after 2025. Jesse Minter, and separately Jay Harbaugh and Mike Hart, each covered a single game as interim coaches in 2023; Biff Poggi handled three games as interim in 2025.
