Rodriguez arrived from West Virginia with the spread option and never got it to fit. Michigan went 3-9 in 2008 — the program's first losing season since 1967 and its worst record ever — then 5-7 and 7-6. He was fired after three years at 15-22, the only Michigan coach with a winning percentage under .500 since 1891.
